Reviewing ARG

I know this is gonna seem odd but I don't see a lot of game reviewers reviewing these games. But hell its an interesting genre. Now i have just signed up to a new ARG called Test subjects needed however i don't know what the game is about or what company is endorsing but it has an interesting concept so far. Now i have also been following this ARG called Marble hornets. Its more of a series than an ARG. Its about two film students alex and Jay.. Basically Jay is a film student and alex is a budding film maker so Jay goes and sees his film which he calls "Marble Hornets".. well its better if i let you see it for yourselves because..Its hard to explain the storyline. Youtube Marble Hornets and you'll see oh its better to start with the first entry you need to watch all of them to understand what is going on

Q-con!

Im heading to q-con in two weeks time and i will be checking out whats going down. I will be taking a lot of pics with my iphone.  Q-con is Northern ireland's Gaming and anime convention they have tournaments,cosplay, LARPS and tabletop games. Oh also I got infamous so i will be reviewing that eventually.

E3!

E3 is here and holy shit and do i mean HOLY SHIT! They have outdone themselves this time Skyrim, MW3, Kinect Star wars and fable 4. Now From what my sources tell me Skyrim will include dual weapon wielding and dual spell casting and also You get your own dragon. YES A FUCKING DRAGON!!!!! Now i couldn't believe it at first but when i saw the screen shots i was..stunned. It was that fucking powerful. Also Mass effect 3 will include kinect controls hmm bioware are you sure about this i know the kinect is the newest xbox accessory but are you willing to risk your award winning series for a motion sensor controller?  Well guess who is also risking their trilogy with the kinect..Yep Lionhead studios rpg series Fable. They are bringing out Fable 4 which will be played in first person by using the kinect controller. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST..Stop going with gimmicky gadgets.. Now There is one game that is actually making use of the Kinect controller. KINECT STAR WARS it was gonna happen and it finally did Lucasarts announced it this will be an amazing game. I can see people coming around and holding their air lightsabres and fighting darth vader. Also Its been announced SAINTS ROW THE THIRD is coming out in november 31st 2011. However Violation have only released a trailer. Oh yes..HALO IS BACK! Bungie announced 3 untitled halo titles. Halo 4 is official they have released a teaser trailer featuring that blue haired computer prorgam cortana! Man..this is too much for me.. Im gonna take a break. See you later.

PSN is back up and get your hands on some free games!

Sony have finally got the playsation network back up and running. This is great for playstation gamers they have kindly given us free downloadable games from the playstation store as well as free 30 days of playstation plus which allows us to buy games at a discounted price and some of the games are free (even better more free games! WOO!). Now Sony has also stated they will be doing something for playstation home however there isn't any word on what content they will be giving out maybe new areas or even premium content which would be a good idea. Now I was annoyed when i first heard they were hacked but i was surprised when i found out who did it a Hacker group who go by the name LulzSec. They have been hacking game corporations such as Nintendo and Sony. This could mean Microsoft could be next however this is very unlikely due to the fact Microsoft has hired professional moderators and computer secruity experts to prevent their servers from being hacked.

LA NOIRE PART 2

Well I just finished LA NOIRE and i had to say i was quite pleased...but the ending was well..you were gonna expect it. Yeah...now i liked that fact you got to play one of cole's marine buddy jack kelso who you get to play a couple of missions as him. Now I am not gonna spoil the game's ending for all of my readers out there but i have to say this. Its not a great ending its kinda cliche.  Well i have to admit thats all i have to say for LA NOIRE. Its a great game if you love crime thrillers and solving puzzles. This game is for you. 9/10

Dreamcast 2?

Yep its official  sega might be creating another dreamcast. Ivy the kiwi creator Yuji Naka stated at a london expo that he was very keen on developing the dreamcast 2. Now they have released a video however none of the info on the video has been officially confirmed by sega or Yuji Naka.

LA NOIRE

I just got my hands on a copy of LA NOIRE. Well first off i would like to say its got everything a gamer could want. A great storyline great cast of voice and facial actors. The gameplay is simple to pick up when you arrive at a crimescene you have to explore the area for clues such as murder weapons personal belongings of the victim. After you have gathered clues you will have to interview a witness or a suspect. The suspect will not be entirely honest you can either be doubtful or honest or even ask if they are lying. If the suspect is lying you can show them evidence. Once you have asked the questions properly you can either arrest the suspect or try and find the real culprit. Now ill talk about the evidence inspection when you pick up a piece of evidence you will go into inspection mode. When the controller vibrates that will indicate a spot that needs to be examined more in detail. You will need to rely on the vibration at all times. I am still playing the game so I guess this review ill be a two parter. Oh and i will be reviewing the dlc and the badge pursuit challenge.

Brink!

Well im back and i have got my hands on splash damage's new release Brink. Now I have beeen hearing alot of rumors "oh its laggy its buggy and its repetitive". First off its not buggy and laggy it is however repetitive this could be fixed if there is a sequel or upcoming add ons. Now let me start with the story. Brink is split into two factions the security and the resistance. The security are the ark's police force who are trying to save the ark from being destroyed. The resistance are trying to escape the ark and contact the outside world for help. Thats pretty much it once you choose your faction you'll progress later on the story and find out what is really going on between the leaders of the factions. Now the voice acting is well..not bad but it could be improved. Now the customisation options is where the game shows its potential. You can modify your weapons by adding on scopes, grips , extended magazines and nozzles. For your character customisation you can give him scars , tattoos, gas masks. crazy hair , destroyed clothes, Taunting masks.

You can change your character's body type. Which i have to say is a first but it does have its advantages and disadvantages if you are going with a medium build character he can move all over the map and nearly carry every weapon in the game. With a light build character they can easily climb walls and obstacles but can only carry light weapons some of which don't do a lot of damage. The heavy build can carry the BFGs and cant climb shit. But this is good gameplay and i like it. Brink has classes that are similar to Team Fortress 2. You got your solider, operative (spy) , engineer and your medic. Each class has a objective that only they can complete if there are other team members who are the same class as you they will try to help you complete your objective.  I haven't played multiplayer yet but there might be a reason why I don't do multiplayer i am an acheivement whore..I played the game to get achievements as well as to review it. Now to finish this review off i would like to say this im sorry i didn't review alien hominid ill review later on in the near future and possibly get an interview with the creator tom fulp. My next review will be LA NOIRE.

Webcomic zone!

Since i review games i will be also reviewing webcomics. I will be also posting links on my blog. First review will be Questionable content. A webcomic about an indie music lover and his robot computer named pintsize who struggles with everyday life trying to manage his love life as well as trying to stop pintsize from destroying his apartment. Its one of those webcomics that has a story arc you need to read the first webcomic to understand the storyline. Its got great humor some indie music references and some internet culture jokes.

Alpha Protocol

Well I said i was gonna do it and im gonna do it. Alpha protocol was Obsidian entertainment's stab at an espionage RPG. I bet you're thinking that sounds cool sounds fuckin kick ass! But sadly no Obsidian fucked it up How you may ask? Well first off they started with a mediocre storyline. Basically your a marine who has to stop a terrorist attack.. Oooh thats so original please i have seen more originality from a fuckin five year old finger painting! The game has so many flaws.. The voice acting is pretty generic..Think of tom cruise but more of a b-movie quality..Yeah..its that generic. I have played a lot of games in my time some of which has great voice acting and well some..that makes me wanna turn down the game's audio volume.. Now im not saying the game is not all bad.. it has only one good point.. And that is the upgrade system.. It follows the basic Rpg leveling up system but you can see it work for your character. But sadly..most of the skills are barely useless.. Obsidian thank god..you actually developed a good game for once.. fallout new vegas!

im gonna round up this review with my final verdict.. Don't waste your hard earned cash on of sega's many published abortions. Buy a good game like black ops or Assassin's creed: Brotherhood. 0/5 Hot damns.. I think it deserves a Are you kiddin me award for being the shittiest game i have ever played.

Next game i will be reviewing is believe it or not a flash game! Yep a flash game. Alien Hominid a game that made its debut on Newgrounds.com!

Myst review

Im gonna review Myst i have become a bit obsessed with it in the past month. I have recently bought the whole myst game collection excluding uru (Uru was a spin off game that lead to the Myst MMO uru live Think myst in 3rd person). Myst was one of the first point and click games to include 3D unrendered graphics. Myst also had realtime video with real life actors the actors were played by the game's creators Rand and Robyn Miller. Rand has played the role of Atrus in nearly every Myst game excluding Uru. How cool is that? Having two awesome skills acting and developing fiendishly difficult games that will make you rip your hair out if you don't know what the fuck you are actually doing!!? The game's story is You touch this magical book known as an Age. You then pick up a note from Atrus telling his wife he has left a message for her. You then find out Atrus' sons have burned all of his books as a way of rebelling against him and has trapped them in prison ages. Once you have activated their books you are told to get all of the red and blue pages which will release them. (I smell a cuppa kharma bewin!).  You then find out some of his books haven't been burnt and give you some hints on how to access the other ages mentioned in the books. Each age contains a blue and red page  blue for sirrus and red for achenar. After you have completed the puzzles you then find a message telling you were to find the final white page. But this is where it gets interesting and boy do i mean interesting.You find out that Atrus has been hiding underneath the Myst island.. the sneaky bastard. He then tells you he's grateful for helping him find his final page you can then give him the page..or if you wanna be a evil little bastard give the pages to sirrus and achenar.  The game spawned sequels and an MMO.. The puzzles in the game are fiendish hell the instruction booklet tells you to get a pen and a notebook. If you look up the recent jewwario video on BlisteredThumbs.com you can see him writing a crapload of notes and sketchings. I would recommend using a walkthrough from gamefaq but..it would ruin the fun of playing the game.

To round up this review. Myst is a great game no doubt about it. I would highly recommended it for point and click fans and people who love a good story. Im gonna give it five hot damns out of five.

Next time ill be reviewing..something..horrible..terrifying..so bad it should be burned and lock the ashes of said game in a safe! That game will be Alpha Protocol.
